The other day I was reading and my eleven year old nephew says to me,

“Are you seriously reading a book right now? " “Yes.” I answer. “But it’s 2019. “ says he. What? Is reading really that unpopular with the kiddos these days? Despite what the youngsters say, I love reading and if I get a quiet, relaxing moment I'll take reading over video games any day!

Summer vacation is pretty much here. My advice, get ourselves some awesome reads and curl up on the beach, pool deck or even your couch and get your read on.

I thought I'd compile a few reading lists for our Brooke and Em readers.

If you are all about the classics, Southern Living has a very good list. Two of my all time favorite books made this list, Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier (which I have read and loved many times over) and Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell.

Heading to the pool or even better, the beach, Today put out a list of 20 books "you won't want to put down"

If you are looking for uplifting, clean reads, Deseret Book has a list of the ultimate books for summer.

I enjoy historical fiction and Abe Books has a pretty good list for those who are interested. If you are into actual biographies and autobiographies Life Hacks compiled an interesting go-to list.

A few of my personal, highly recommenced series are the Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children series by Ransom Riggs and The Selection series by Kiera Cass. Both are fabulous and are young adult friendly, too.

May this summer find you engaged in good works and good reads.

Charles W. Eliot has said "Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers.”

Do you have a good book suggestion to share? Leave us a comment below. We'd love to hear from you.

Love Much,
